For the Gods!

Created by Mighty Boards

For the Gods! is a strategic area control game in which every stone shapes your path to victory. The rules are simple: Sail the seas to establish new towers or strengthen existing ones. Along the way, collect God stones and unleash their divine powers at the right moment. With twelve unique God powers, each game offers fresh strategies and dynamic gameplay, ensuring high variability. Design by David Thompson, Trevor Benjamin and Brett J. Gilbert (who brought you games like Undaunted, Mandala, War Chest and Guild of Merchant Explorers).

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Thank you! 💚 What's next?

Hello everyone!

3761x thank you!! It's been an amazing 3 weeks, but don't worry, the end of the Kickstarter campaign does not mean that you won’t hear from us anymore! As we move forward to bringing this experience to your tables, we will update you on development, manufacturing and shipping!

Faction Emblems and Names

The voting for the Faction Names is now closed! The most popular suggestion was by Richard N. Congratulations! These Faction Names will become part of the rulebook!

🔻 Ram: Kriosians (Krios means Aries/ram and is associated with Krios Chrysomallus, the golden fleeced ram from the Argonautica)
🔻 Fish: Ikhthyans (Ikhthyes is the Greek name for the constellation, Pisces, and means "the Fish")
🔻 Pegasus: Hippocreneans (There are springs in Greece named "Hippocrene" (horse spring), both said to spring from where Pegasus struck his hooves)
🔻 Harp: Orpheans (from Orpheus, the legendary musician from the Argonautica, known for his lyre)

Shoutout to all of you who had some beautiful suggestions, and to all of you who joined! We really enjoyed reading your suggestions.

What's next?

Right now, you don't need to do anything. In the following 2 weeks, Kickstarter will collect all the funds and we will import all data into Backerkit - the pledge manager.

In about 14 days, you will receive a Backerkit survey link and be asked to complete your Backerkit survey. This survey will invite you to finalize your pledge, add extra copies, add-ons, and pay for shipping. We will post an update once these Backerkit invitations go out!

Before April 17th, you will have to complete that survey. Why so fast? Because we want to start printing For the Gods! as soon as possible, which means we need to lock down the final ordered quantities to send to the factory.

Don't worry - in case you need to update your address information, you can still do that later-on, close to the fulfillment date. For now, it's important we know your country and final order quantities to input the accurate shipping costs.

Missed the campaign?

Did you just get here or do you know someone who still wants to pledge? The late pledges are going live right now! Until April 17, you can still pledge for For the Gods! Limited Edition. Late pledgers will also receive their pledge manager links and will be asked to finalize their information by April 17th.

Stay tuned...

Again, thank you all for this amazing campaign! We love hearing from you, the community. So join us on our Discord to share your gaming experiences and see what we are up to, in addition to all the updates here!

Thank you for all your support, always!

Grab your Metal Glory Tokens - no shipping cost!

As some of you might have seen, we're offering an add-on during this campaign for everyone who'd like to upgrade their cardboard tokens to these gorgeous metal tokens!

We will absorb the additional shipping cost for one set of metal Glory tokens, so you will not be charged more than the amount listed in the Shipping section.

These metal Glory tokens are replacements for the cardboard tokens that are still included in the game. They are made from the same materials we usually use for metal coins, and include a strong ink wash to be able to create contrast between the intricate engraving and patterns that our designers created.

Here you can see how our graphic designer gave life to them:

Meet the Artist, Hermes & Hera!
22 days ago – Thu, Mar 05, 2026 at 05:30:56 AM

Hello all,

With 5 days to go, more than 2870 of you already decided to join this campaign. Thank you so much!

Meet the Illustrator

Ever wondered who illustrated the 12 greek gods of For the Gods so beautifully? That would be the amazing Katarzyna "Ulvar" Bekus!

"I had great fun exploring and developing an art style for For the Gods! alongside Mark Casha's watchful eye. We really wanted to show the greek gods in a bright and colourful palette, and contrast it with stark silhouettes reminiscent of black-figure paintings on ancient vases. Mighty and vivid at the same time!" - Katarzyna Bekus, illustrator.

Here are some initial sketches...

And the final art...

If you like the art, head over to BGG to like the image and show some appreciation for Katarzyna! <3

Let us know if you'd like to see more sketches - we have more!

Meet Hermes & Hera!

Hera is the goddess of marriage, women, and family. She is the sister of Demeter and Poseidon, the sister-wife of Zeus, and the mother of Ares and Hephaestus.

When you dedicate a temple to Hera, take a foundation stone and put it in your bag. Hera provides flexibility in the future. You’ll never be unhappy to draw a "wild" stone!

Hermes is the herald of the gods, protector of human travelers, thieves, merchants and orators. He is the son of Zeus.

When you dedicate a temple to Hermes, you draw 2 additional stones from your bag and then take another "move & build" action. Hermes is incredibly versatile. In the early game, you can use him to snag two god stones in one turn. Later on, he can support a double attack.

Hermes and Hera provide abilities based on stone management and timing. Hermes’ ability is hard to fault. An extra turn, if planned right, can be very powerful. Note that you won’t usually have a full stable of stones for your second turn, so plan it accordingly!

Hera lets you add a foundation stone to your bag, which you can then essentially use as a stone of any rank. Powerful, but dependent on the luck of the draw.

Vote for your favorites & Meet Ares & Athena!
24 days ago – Tue, Mar 03, 2026 at 05:31:21 AM

Hi Mighty backers,

Thank you so much for all your support! More than 2600 of you already decided to join us, thank you!

The Factions

Last week, we've asked you to share your suggestions on how to name the Factions. As requested by some, now we have selected our favorites and leave the final vote up to you!

Vote here for your favorites!

The winners will make it into the rulebook as official Faction names.

Meet Ares and Athena!

Ares is the god of war, representing the raw violence, chaos, and bloodlust of battle rather than strategic warfare. He is the son of Zeus and Hera and brother of Hephaestus.

When you dedicate a temple to Ares, you take a God stone from the top of one other temple in the region (yes, from another player!) and put it in your bag. Ares offers the most direct attack in the game. Is an extra god stone worth the loss of a friend?

Athena is the goddess of wisdom and strategic warfare. She is the daughter of Zeus.

When you dedicate a temple to Athena, you may swap the location of the Athena temple with one of your other temples on the same island. This goddess enables huge swings of fortune. With careful planning and a bit of luck, you can claim control of two regions in a single turn.

The gods of War & Strategy

Both Ares and Athena have trickier abilities that can be considered rather confrontational. Athena is the milder of the two although one that can have a greater game-changing effect. With Athena, you can pull off the ultimate misdirection by swapping two temples. Of course, timing is important, play it when the others least expect it!

Ares is by far the most interactive of all the god powers. Ares' power is cancelling out an another player’s earlier action by stealing a god stone from one of their towers, which is especially useful on powers like Aphrodite's. Keep in mind that the longer you wait to play an Ares stone, the less time you have to put that newly stolen god stone to use.

Glory Tokens & the Gods!
29 days ago – Thu, Feb 26, 2026 at 06:36:50 AM

Hello everyone!

You guys are amazing. Your support keeps on growing and we couldn't be more grateful! The Olympians are pleased...

Metal Glory Tokens!

They are solid, they are glorious, and... they can be yours! As some of you might have seen, we're offering an add-on during this campaign for everyone who'd like to upgrade their cardboard tokens to metal tokens!

Why didn't we make this part of the Limited Edition? We wanted the Limited Edition to remain accessible while still offering high-quality components. The metal Glory tokens are available as an optional add-on for all of you who want to upgrade their set. This approach lets everyone enjoy the full game with the standard tokens while giving those of you who want an extra premium touch the choice to invest in the metal tokens. It also helps us keep the base pledge price reasonable, manage shipping weight, and maintain affordability for all backers!

These metal Glory tokens are replacements for the cardboard tokens that are included in the game. They are made from the same materials we usually use for metal coins, and include a strong ink wash to be able to create contrast between the intricate engraving and patterns that our designers created.

The Glory tokens are set up at the beginning of the game and placed semi-randomly on the board to create a different setup each time, and then are used at the end of the game to track the score (and sometimes during, with powers like Aphrodite's). The player with the tallest temple takes the top gold token, while the second player takes the bottom token (either Silver or Bronze)!

Most of the gold tokens are unique designs, as most locations score a different number of points. This way, the highest scoring location is in a different location each game!

The gold Glory tokens are designed to be stacked and to lock together with the silver and bronze tokens, as you can see in the image below.

If you're interested in how the Glory tokens were designed, our Graphic Designer has posted an image of the progress here!

Meet Apollo & Hestia

Hestia is the goddess of the hearth and the home. She is the sister of Demeter, Hera, Poseidon and Zeus. When you dedicate a temple to Hestia, you may build the temple using player stones of 2 different ranks. Hestia offers the possibility for incredible height. If you’re running out of stones in one rank, you can use her to switch to another rank!

Apollo is the god of prophecy, healing, music and poetry. He is the son of Zeus and the twin brother of Artemis. When you dedicate a temple to Apollo, you draw 7 stones at the end of your turn instead of 5. Apollo sets you up for a powerful, flexible next turn. The two extra stones let you travel further and build higher.

Hestia and Apollo allow you to hedge your bets for better options in the next turns in For the Gods

With Apollo, you will be drawing 2 additional stones at the end of that turn. This gives you a greater chance of drawing the stones you need, as well as the ability to sail farther away by taking advantage of the extra stones for additional movement.

Hestia on the other hand opens up your hand in a different way; it allows you to build temples while mixing stones of more than one rank. This not only allows you to build higher temples faster, but also greatly increases the possibility of drawing stones which will allow you to elevate that specific temple.

One of the more interesting aspects of these two gods is their different trigger timing, making them a great potential combo; by dedicating the temple to Apollo on one turn, you will draw 7 stones for the next - if you draw Hestia’s stone in that hand, you can have yourself a game-changing turn, with a highly flexible 7-stone hand.

Did you name your Factions yet?

Many of you helped us choose the Faction Emblems in the weeks before the campaign, and decided what the Faction Emblems would become. Now, it's time to name them! What would you name each of them? Comment your suggestions below or on BoardGameGeek. Our favorites will make it into the rulebook!
